Iowa Ice Age

One thing is certain, if everything else is boring, the weather in Iowa isn't. A few days after the hoar frost came an ice storm.

The best thing about these storms is that hubby is sent home from work to spend the rest of the day at home. It makes it feel like a vacation!

A Frosty Day

We have had a beautiful day. Everything was white all day long.

Jessica brought me these beautiful branches a few days ago, but didn't realize they wouldn't stay that way in the house for long.

Early morning we had some deer on our front yard, and late afternoon they decided to check out the rotten apples under the apple tree. They are a lot of fun to watch.

Happy New Year, everyone!

It's been a while, too long, since I have updated here, but one has to take care of important things first. So, that's what I have been doing. Actually I have not been doing much, except enjoying being at home, having my man around these holidays. We decided not to go anywhere this winter, and it turned out to be very enjoyable, very relaxing. You never get to relax when you go somewhere, at least that is how it seems to me. One day we went out to a museum. One night the whole family went for a moonlit walk in the snowy pastures. What fun! We've played games of Settlers. We've enjoyed sitting in the living room with a crackling fire in the stove, listening to Daddy read us some Bible or Little House on the Prairie.

Enjoy the photos I have added of what is happening around here these days.

Snowmobile rides with 'Grandpa' Duane. (I am in the plastic barrel way back there; I didn't even fall out...:)

This is a scene I expect will repeat itself many times in the coming years. Big sister trying to help with baking cookies, big brother licking his fingers, and little brother sticking his spoon into the batter and licking away. Happy baking to me!

Mommy, what's my magic number???
